Alabama Association of Nonprofits’ Academic Consortium
The Alabama Association of Nonprofits (AAN) developed a nationally-recognized model of nonprofit and academic partnership in late 2009 with Samford University, the University of Alabama and more than one-half dozen other two- and four-year colleges and universities in Alabama. Our academic partners are committed to providing Alabama’s nonprofit sector with the tools, training and support our members need to be successful in today’s complex world. While models exist nationally of partnerships between nonprofit associations and a single institution of higher education, AAN is developing a statewide model of nonprofit and academic collaboration that is inclusive of all colleges and universities.
This academic consortium provides no-cost or low-cost support to nonprofit organizations in the following four areas: business support, research and performance measurement, professional development training and internship/mentorship placement.
