AI In Action: Making AI Work for You and Your Agency - In-Person

This interactive, hands-on workshop shows nonprofit professionals what AI can realistically do for their organizations and where caution is needed. Participants will practice using AI tools on everyday nonprofit tasks, then work through the considerations and guardrails of using AI, including data privacy and security. Everyone leaves with practical skills and a simple first-steps plan, whether joining in person or online.
Learning Objectives:
1. See what today’s AI tools can and can’t do, and what that means for your organization
2. Walk away with practical ways to put AI to work in your own day-to-day tasks
3. Practice writing effective prompts and getting useful results from AI tools during the session (setup steps sent ahead of time)
4. Know the real risks of AI, including data privacy, accuracy, and ethics, and learn simple guardrails to manage them
5. Sort AI fact from hype so you can make informed decisions for your organization
6. Leave with a simple first-steps plan for putting AI to work at your nonprofit

About Your Trainer:
Andrew Mitchell is the CEO and Founder of Oplos Consulting, helping organizations be more efficient by embedding AI tools in their daily work. He has been a featured speaker at nationally recognized events like Sloss Tech and Southern Spark, and is the leader of Birmingham AI's Nonprofit breakout group. Prior to Oplos, Andrew worked with Deloitte Consulting, supporting Fortune 500 companies and some of the largest healthcare providers in the country as they implemented new digital tools. He started his career in the education nonprofit space with Teach For America, A+ Education Partnership and the Birmingham Education Foundation, before receiving his MBA from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management. Andrew currently lives in Birmingham, AL with his wife Hattie O'Hara.
